From 2000 to 2001, he hosted NPR’s national call-in-show, Talk of the Nation. He wrote for the Washington Post for 21 years as an editorial writer, an op-ed columnist and a White House reporter. Williams won an Emmy Award for TV documentary writing. He is the author of “Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954–1965” and “This Far by Faith: Stories from the African American Religious Experience.”
